Our verdict

A general-purpose agent app, not a coding tool: Bots get their own cloud computer, so they can work in web apps that have no connector and keep going when your laptop is closed. Worth trying if you already pay for Premium or higher. Set approval rules before you let it send, publish or delete anything.

Best for

  • ✓ Delegating browser-based work across many web apps
  • ✓ Recurring tasks you can turn into scheduled routines
  • ✓ Running several role-specific agents in parallel
  • ✓ People already on The X Subscription Premium or higher

Watch out for

  • ! Not included on Free or Plus; usage shares one weekly pool with Grok and Cursor
  • ! All your Bots share one cloud computer and its logins, so they aren't a security boundary
  • ! Sites can block automation or need you to take over for logins and CAPTCHAs
  • ! Needs cloud data storage; Legacy Privacy Mode isn't supported

When to switch

  • You only need fixed API-to-API workflows on a schedule

→ n8n. n8n runs predictable visual workflows and can be self-hosted for free.

  • Your work is mostly writing and changing code in a repo

→ Claude Code. A dedicated coding agent fits multi-file repo work better than a general agent.

  • You want to build and host your own agents in code

→ CrewAI. An agent framework gives you full control over how your agents run and where.
